Welcome to Nanette Hooker's Personal Webpage

This page has some photos of my childhood days around Moore and Daresbury.  I attended Daresbury Primary School between about 1958 and 1964.  During my teenage years, from about 1967 to 1970, I owned a pony which was pastured in fields in Moore.  During the early 1970s I worked as a stock control clerk for Du Pont (UK) Limited who had a warehouse on Birchwood Lane, Moore (Acton Grange Distribution Centre).  In 1972 I left for the bright lights of London.  I recently did a search on the web for things related to Daresbury and Moore and found Lachlan Cranswick's Personal Homepage in Melbourne, Australia who has some wonderful photos of the area and in particular of wildflowers.  This is also of great interest to me since I am a botanist.  I also pinched his web page design because it was so good.

Path to Daresbury Firs 2000Daresbury Firs 2000

Daresbury Firs.  The schoolchildren of Daresbury school used this area for nature studies.  I remember walking to the wood from the back of the school along a footpath - the motorway wasn't built when I went to the school (c1958-c1964).  I also remember the wildflowers such as the bluebells in spring, and the rocky outcrops which provided a natural playground for the schoolchildren.
