Beacon Receiver Research

STRAP (Satellite Transmission Rain Attenuation Project)

The Satellite Transmission Rain Attenuation Project is concerned with the effect of rain on satellite communications. That project resulted in several Commercial contracts and ARC grants. Further details here.

ADC Research

This research is concerned with improving the performance of Analogue to Digital Converters, using digital signal processing techniques.

Spread Spectrum Network Analyser

A spread spectrum network analyser is the fastest way to measure the performance of a network.

BPSK Demodulation using EPLDs

EPLDs and EPROMs are used to demodulate BPSK signals at an IF frequency of 18.48 MHz. This frequency is too high for general DSP processors to be used.

Microwave Thermometer

This microwave thermometer is designed for the measurement of high temperatures in hostile environments.

850MHz High Power Linear Amplifier

A 40 Watt linear power amplifier operating at 850-900 MHz is being designed and constructed as part of a commercial contract. Photographs and the performance of this amplifier will be included at a later date.
